East Texas Lakes Unit, #98

DFW area, east to Texarkana and from Rusk north.

The first meeting of East Texas Lakes Unit (ETLU ) was held at Tyler State Park on February 21, 1970. The first rally was held at Daingerfield State Park, April 3-5 1970, with twenty nine trailers. After much discussion the name East Texas Lakes Unit was adopted.  Today we have 100 members.  All members are retired except 2 families.

This year our unit had 6 rallies and 3 luncheons. Many of our members attended the Region 9 Rally and some are planning to attend the International Rally.

ETLU covers an area from Dallas and Greenville to the north, Ft. Worth and Hillsboro to the west, Rusk to the south and Texarkana to the east.

Some of our members are unable to continue traveling with their rigs due to health problems. New members are welcome to join our unit and enjoy the rallies and luncheons. Many of our rallies include tours that have been planned by the host and  hostess, also games, food, and fellowship.

Texas Alamo Unit, #168

San Antonio and Surrounding Area

Homepage

The Texas Alamo Unit of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI) was founded on October 30,1977. That weekend nine families who were members of the WBCCI gathered at Lockhart State Park, Texas, to formulate thebylaws and initiate the procedure to obtain a WBCCI charter. The Unit was specifically founded to accommodate Airstream owners who were not able to routinely travel great distances. The Unit Charter was granted and the Texas Alamo Unit assumed its place in Region 9 of the WBCCI.

Unit rallies are normally held a maximum of 100 miles from San Antonio. However, for reasons of geographical variety and campground availability, the rule may be occasionally altered.

The incoming Unit President schedules rallies for his/her presidential year for the months of October, November, January, February, March, April, May, and September. The September rally will be used for the installation of new Officers and Directors for the coming year. All rallies are scheduled to start with an opening ceremony late in the afternoon of the fourth Friday of each rally month. The rally ends after breakfast and a devotional service the following Sunday.

On the First Saturday of each month, September through May, the Unit holds a supper meeting at a local restaurant in the San Antonio area.

Houston and surrounding area

The Texas Coastal Plains Unit covers about a 100 mile radius around the Greater Houston area although we have members all over the state and nation.  Our roughly 150 members range in age from young couples with children to great-grandparents.  About a third of our members are still actively working.  We have a number of singles who are quite comfortable with our group.  Of the 75 rigs represented there is about an even mix of trailers and motor homes.

TCP LogoWe feature 10 unit rallies a year, two dinners a month, and several caravans a year. The monthly newsletter helps keep us all in touch.  We try to have our short rallies run from Friday evening to Sunday morning so that those who are still working or have kids in school can participate.  Our members represent nearly every occupation and interest group.  Our programs are so varied, we are sure that we’ll have some that interest you.

Texas Highland Lakes Unit, #172

Homepage

Austin and Surrounding Area

The Texas Highland Lakes Unit is a very active group representing over seventy Airstream families.  Most our members are from the Austin general area, but others come from as much as several hundred miles away.

We join for lunch at Luby's Cafeteria in northwest Austin, near the intersection of US183 andRM620, at 1pm on the first Tuesday of every month except when preempted by a rally.  We also schedule occasional "Southside Gatherings" in San Marcos so that our far-south members can more conveniently attend.

We hold five formal rallies each year, usually from Thursday through Sunday.   A very high proportion of our members also attend the annual Region 9 Rally and the International Rally.  Very often, groups of our members will gather for "not really a rally" informal campouts.

THLU Logo

Texas Highland Lakes unit has hosted five very successful "vintage rallies", featuring Airstreams more than 25 years old.  The 2010 Texas National Vintage rally will be held at Montgomery, TX on Feb 10-14, 2010.

West Texas Unit, #100

The first organized meeting of the West Texas Unit  was held in September 1965 in Odessa, Texas.  The West Texas Unit was chartered on January 20, 1966 with 33 members.  Our area covers Midland and Odessa .  We have members in Ft. Stockton, Brownwood, Lubbock, Abilene, Imperial,  Big Springs, and Pecos.

We have a dinner meeting the first Tuesday of the month in Midland at Furr's Cafeteria.  This year we had a caravan in December to see the Christmas on the Pecos, January a caravan to Quartzsite, Arizona, March a caravan to Region 9 in Canton, Texas and in June we will caravan to Lansing, MI.     We have 7 rallies planned also.  At our rallies we have different host couples who  plan the rally.  At our Christmas Party the first of December the new officers will be installed.

According what the town offers that we are visiting we normally eat out several meals, purchase groceries and gasoline and have a tour of their area.  We do bring monies to their area.

All Airstream owners are welcomed to come and join us as we travel this beautiful country of ours.  We do have a barrel of fun.
